Allenby House

Allenby House is a 35 bed Hostel and operates for the purpose of providing accommodation to students whilst they attend Institutions in Melbourne's Inner Eastern Suburbs. The Hostel offers a choice of Private and Shared Rooms and is situated in Burwood Road, Hawthorn. Allenby House is conveniently located to a large number of Institutions by Public Transport and is opposite Swinburne University, Hawthorn Campus.

Supervision
Full time supervision is provided.
Payment
Accommodation fees as well as conditions of payment are included on the application form.
Bookings
Permanent & Semi Permanent
Please complete the Application Form and forward it together with a cheque or bank draft for 14 weeks. Fees are payable to Allenby House, at the above address.
Casuals
Payment is required either 1 or 2 weeks in advance on arrival at the Hostel.
Curfew
Students are expected to respect the rights of others and be quiet in the Hostel after 10.30pm.
Transport
Public Transport is available to all Major Eastern Suburbs Institutions.
Meal Arrangements
Breakfast - is provided 7 days per week - continental style.
Lunch - is not provided, however there are facilities near by.
Dinner - is not provided, however full Kitchen facilities are provided for students to cook their Evening Meal.
Linen
Linen, Blankets and Pillows are provided.
Laundry
Coin operated washers and dryers are available on site.
Rules
Students should acquaint themselves with the rules and general running of the Hostel. A copy of the Hostel Rules is included in this booklet.

The general rules for the Hostel are:-

To behave in such a way as to not annoy other residents staying at the Hostel.
Alcohol and illegal drugs are not allowed in the Hostel or on the Hostel premises.
Smoking is not allowed inside the Hostel buildings.
No phone calls are permitted after 10:30 pm and no longer than 30 minutes.
External doors are to be kept locked at all times over holidays/weekends, and entry into the hostel after 10:30 pm. is to be kept quiet.
Residents are to clean up any mess they make, particularly in the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and their own room. Do not use the dining room, bathroom (for showers/baths) after 10:30 pm or before 6:00 am.
No cooking or ironing in bedrooms.
Breakfast is only available between the hours of 7.00 am. & 9.30 am. The kitchen will be open again at midday.
Residents are to wash and put away their own dishes after use, and wipe down tables and benches when finished.
Empty the dining room rubbish bin & bedroom paper tidy regularly.
No food is permitted in the bedrooms.
Any damage to the property must be reported to the Management. The person responsible for the damage will be required to meet the repair or replacement costs.
Loss of room keys will be replaced and paid for by the resident.
Residents are required to clean their room and wash all their bed linen prior to vacating.
Except for weekly residents, two weeks notice must be given prior to departure.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in the residents' dismissal from the Hostel.
